Hello everyone,
I was going to start this section with all the formal things you would normally read, like my design experience, qualifications etc. But really, it's boring ...I am just as qualified as the next artist so there is nothing really exciting about that at all.
So I thought I would use this area to put whatever I feel like adding here; things that make me smile. And to thank a few people, who in their own way, have helped shape my life and be who I am today. They were just being themselves and for that I thank them.
A big thank you...
Cliff O'Toole
Cliff was my art teacher at Macleod Tech high school. I think I spent most of my time in his art room...by choice, not because I was naughty ha ha. He was a quiet man, but I learnt more from him than I think any one person I can think of, not just in art, but in general. My fondest memories are being in that room.
He brought out the best creativity in everyone by teaching us that there was no right or wrong way to draw or paint, you just do what feels right. "Draw what you see, not what you know" he said, that one statement has served me well over the years.
I hope that anyone who ever had the pleasure of being taught by this man took away with them as much as I did.
Where ever you are Cliffy, thank you and thanks for the Mars Bars.
Pam Sumpter
Pam was another teacher of mine, she taught ceramics. I loved her class. I got so messy and got to make whatever bizarre sculptures I wanted and she always said they were great. It just goes to show that if something comes from the heart others will love it.
I look back at some of the stuff I made. What was I thinking? And Pam, what were you thinking telling me it was good?
But now, whenever I paint or sculpt, it still comes from the heart just like she taught me.
Kiro Stojanoski
I worked for Kiro a few years ago now and I have lost count of all the little things I have picked up from him.
I watched him run a huge company that ran perfectly. I know his stress levels were high, but you would never have known. No matter if you were a manager or a factory worker, you got treated with the same respect. He said to me once, "Never treat people badly, you never know when you will need their help". That was just one thing that has stuck with me and I use these things I learnt from him to run Bald Dog. My small clients are just as specials as the big ones.
Thanks Kiro for the time I spent with you, you have made a big impact on me. I do miss the morning donuts though.
Nathan and Charli
My husband, after 10 years, is still amazed at what I do. Even if one person thinks I am brilliant it makes my job all the more exciting. He is my biggest supporter and tells anyone who cares to listen what good artwork I do.
And to Charli who is so patient as I work and tells me my paintings are the best in the world.
Having people who make such an impact on your life is a beautiful gift and they may have no idea they are giving.
I hope through my art, I can give a little bit of myself in every job I get to do as well.
I hope you enjoy looking around my site.
